an informal referendum group, that is nonetheless still looked at by politicans for its indications of public support has a (pseudo) referendum vote up on bill c-38. the question is should bill c-38 pass ? The no vote is unfortunatley quite far ahead at rough 70,000 against the bill to approx 26,000 for. I figure that church groups must be voting en-mass.

anyways here's the url, you have to provide a bit of info (nothing drastic) to show your not some made up dude before you vote. I expect most of my friends will want to look at this (canadians only sorry).

finaly finished the DVD burn and the wide screen came out great. The orignial file was unfortunalty not the best rez I could hope for, but it's pretty watchable.

So European Deviltry night is on in full!. I decided against advertising in the coffee shops etc. This is pretty much strictly friends. so all of you reading this + some emails, a phone call and some word of mouth.

to recap. Wide screen Diabolik at 8pm followed by Jan Svankmajers Faust (which is based on Marlowes version plus some damn cool puppet stuff) plus bring a food or beverage item to share and I'll be thrilled to hear of a popcorn popper or port microwave.

if this goes well, I promise I have even wierder sh*t in the vaults

I resolve to enjoy strange acts of mailage since possable rising cost of oil to $100 US/barrel (shipping) and beaucratic fumblings over power (phasing out of power by 07 won't be matched by new plants to a deficet of some 800MW)(casual baking) will probably led to such things being impossable in five years or so.

I don't think the world will end, just that things will get slower, harder and more expensive over time (oh yah and we'll make less. this is just the slow pull of the standard of living of canada to match the rest of the world and it will suck for a lot of people. with a few exceptions on the higher end of the scale) bleh.

I guess I'm noticed this a bit less since most of my friends are dirt poor, ride bikes and are into wierd communial stuff. sigh.

alas my plan to escape to Japan has been stymied (again) but they are making their own share of woe (the fools..if only they had listened...)

quick catch up.

spending too much time playing with Arcade emulators.

stressed over deadlines for sanctuary and subcultures exhibition.

scanning other peoples LJs, the locals desperately need a 'scene ' to be in. this from the metagroup that fell out from each other over the course of 2 years. I'm surprised that nothing's really re-formed or that people haven't drifted back into a mass. there are of course exceptions,that have have 'found' their scene substitutes (online for example)

lonely but have fallen into that 'can't be bothered to look better than tin pan alley' phase. fortunately artists really don't seem to care that I look a mess or wear the same clothes over and over again (the fact that I seem to be accumulating paint stains just adds to my 'street cred' I guess)for the purpose of interacting with me. (you pretty much have to start smelling funky before you cross the line with them, which is odd for people who are so in tune with visuals)

reading lots of regency based culture material. Particularly on things like class differences and obsessions. We don't seem to much like the brits (then) have we gotten past land,money and titles ? I don't notice anyone from the period going 'wow are we vapid'. There doesn't seem to be the same level of pervasive self/society critical dialog that we struggle with now. I babble.I enjoy being rootless.

So after 16 weeks , Margaret is finally gone.
I've whined, fretted and bitched about her being here.
I hate insanity. If it wasn't for that I would have been happy for her to continue to stay for as long as she needed.
I miss the parts of her that wasn't crazy.
Real mental illness is seriously shitty, I think I'll swear off playing Malkavians... It's not fun anymore.

have to get back to figuring out where to go with my life now that the last millstone is gone.

Sad...sad...

Saw a young friend of mine (almost a younger brother really) tonight, saw how he was pushing himself through the world. (puts newspapers on-line.. pretty much has to be typed in , the only way to do it properly I guess) and barely gets by in T.O. doing this. That and plays a mean bass in a band called Uncle Remus. His co-member Fish is married and plots to go to Japan with his wife to teach English. Very strange. Much time has passed but no-one looks any older. Just kind of worn out. Seems surreal some how.

I feel very disconnected. Gina temporary grounded me but that was, of course, temporary since she doesn't stay on the same plane of existence as me for very long. Damn.

Bought Margaret groceries today. Realized how much I still care about her and also how much I never want to be in a relationship with her. Blah

I don't think I'll ever feel real per say, but it would be nice to find someone as lost in faerieland as myself to hang out with. I could use a nice Folie a deux since I have a fairly adaptable reality bubble.

Lawsuit Update: White Wolf vs. Sony On In 30 Days

White Wolf, Inc. and Nancy A. Collins yesterday appeared in court yesterday with their attorneys in an effort to get legal relief from Sony Pictures', Screen Gems' and Lakeshore Entertainment's alleged copyright infringements in their upcoming film Underworld.
Judge J. Owen Forrester did not grant the requested temporary restraining order, citing a handful of mitigating circumstances, most notably the plaintiff's inability to post a bond in excess of ten million dollars. Judge Forrester, however, did call for an expedited discovery period (lasting 30 days) and enabled the plaintiffs to have a preliminary injunction hearing thereafter. Judge Forrester also outlined his policy on fairness in his courtroom and cautioned Sony Pictures against using "big business" delay tactics.

If the injunction is granted, defendants risk their ability to proliferate the Underworld brand in video, licenses and merchandising. "I believe our attorney presented a strong case yesterday," said Mike Tinney, President of White Wolf. "The judge had done his homework, asked a lot of smart questions, and commented that plaintiffs appeared to have made a valid argument for copyright infringement. For a small company like White Wolf and an individual plaintiff like Ms. Collins, this acknowledgement is very heartening."

White Wolf and Collins filed suit last week over similarities between the upcoming Underworld feature film and their World of Darkness line of roleplaying products and fiction, including Collins' 1994 short story "Love of Monsters."
